Shivanasamudra trip

Had great fun last weekend. I left to Bangalore(oh! sorry.. Bengaluru!) on friday. It was gloomy and the sun was hiding behind the clouds on saturday, as if the cyclone was going to hit Bengaluru once again. Met Uday, Papu, Bademi and Guru(Bademi's bro). GR had proposed the plan to Sivanasamudra. By evening Gowds and Preethu arrived along with Raghu. Had some good time pulling each other's leg. Then we planned for the trip. Preetham tried to arrange a vehicle, but it was too late. So, we all planned to go by bus the next morning. Gowds, preeths and raghu dropped out at the last moment due to some reasons(which were not at all convincing, except for raghu who is really in tight schedule). Anyways, we did'nt want to cancel the trip. So, at last it was Uday, Papu, GR, Bademi and myself who made it the trip. We left Bengaluru bus-stand by 7.30am.
Shivanasamudra is the first hydroelectric power generating plant in India. It is about 160kms from Bengaluru. We went to Malavalli and from there took a left turn to reach the Ganganachukki falls. Cauvery was in full flow due to heavy rainfalls in the past few months. The milky white water was rushing down the black stones behind the lush green trees and shrubs as background. It was a delight to watch the nature in its glory. The picture was no less than a good wallpaper on computer.

We had some good time there, had some snacks and left to Barachukki. It is about 2kms from the former. This one was even more beautiful. We got down from the hill and hired a boat(teppa) which took us to the base of the falls. There is an island sort of thing where we played cricket(!!).

After spending about 1 - 1.5 hrs at Barachukki, we had to leave as it was getting darker and had to catch a bus back to Bangalore before the dusk. Uday's mobile phone which has a very good camera(1.3MPixels) was very handy in taking some good snaps, as we couldn't arrange for a camera before the trip(a real blunder). We were back to Bengaluru by 8.30pm.

I had to leave to Surathkal the same night. In the next 2 days i finished my seminar and was back to Bengaluru on Thursday. Stayed there till friday night before i left to Tirupati. I attended my cousin's wedding there and also had God's darshan(twice).

That was the end of a funfilled, enjoyable and memorable week.
